These are Long chain Nylons & are ideal materials to replace metal parts in industrial environments. This material stands out from other engineering plastics due to its resistance to oil, electricity, high and low temperatures, and pressures
Applications
- Wire & Cable – Optical Fiber tube & sheathing, Solar cables sheathing, Cables for power applications, Oil & Gas. (anti-termite anti-rodent), Cable Ties etc
- Automotive – Fuel/gasoline tubes, Oil resistant tubes. Air break / Pneumatic and hydraulic hoses, Power Steering Oil Filter, Transparent grade is been used as a visor, etc.
- Industrial – Oil Level Indicator, Flow Regulator, Robotic arms with complex and more resistant geometries, Permanent antistatic parts such as conveyor belts, electrical housings, and paint spray hoses Applications
- Sporting and leisure goods – Elements of sports shoes, Elements of ski boots, Sports glasses, Spectacles Frame, etc
Key Features
- The Lowest Melting point among most of the Nylons is ~180◦C
- Excellent Impact strength & much lower water/moisture absorption, Melting point, and density compared to all other conventional Nylons like Nylon 6 & Nylon 6,6
- Very good Dimensional stability & insensitive to stress cracking
- Good chemical resistance. Nylon 12 is highly resistant to hydrocarbons, alkalis, fats, oils, fuel, ethers, ester,s and ketones. Not resistant to halogens, mineral acids, certain organic acids, and oxidizing agents.
- Good abrasion resistance
- Other mechanical properties, such as hardness, tensile strength, and HDT are similar to those of nylon 6 & nylon 66
